my body commits to practice.

My deep-seated urge to create movements and compose dances began in childhood. The magic of creating something all my own, belonging to no one else has always thrilled me.

I began formal dance training as a teenager. In college I discovered and embraced postmodern dance.
“…dance is alive with the recognition of one’s perceptual activity rather than assurances found in memory, desire, physical training, prowess, which by analogy, could as well be found in sports”  –Deborah Hay

Group dances form a very small portion of the 70+ dances I have created to date. The solo is the focus for most of my dances. I create and perform most of the dances with the exception of The Shedding Light Series (18 solos and group dances). They were all made for other dancers. This series has given me the fulfillment of creating a dance with the soundtrack being the voice of the performers answering these five essential questions:

What kind of movement do you like to do?
What kind of movement don’t you like to do?
What kind of movement don’t you like to see other do?
What kind of movement do you like to see others do?
What about or how does or why does movement inspire you?
